Working Title Director of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program Position Status Full Time Department School of Health Sciences General Summary

Manage disciplines within each school under supervision of the Dean.

Specific Position Duties

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field.
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the college including CollegeNOW Academy (Dual Credit) classes.
  • Utilizes appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners.
  • Provides students with written expectations, e.g., syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, etc..
  • Administers assessments which are appropriate to course content, including a comprehensive final exam measuring overall grasp of course objectives.
  • By various ways and means of instructing students, affirms the worth and dignity of all persons and the right of all persons to learn.
  • Maintains an appropriate learning and assessment climate in the classroom, whether traditional, web, or distance, which encourages the free exchange of ideas while defending academic honesty and objectivity.
  • Prepares adequately for class and arrives promptly at class meetings, labs, and any other scheduled instructional activities.
  • Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Addresses student concerns, i.e., comments, questions, and input, both in class and via posted office hours, timely electronic communication, and other suitable means.
  • Effectively handles routine procedures necessary for the successful, day-to-day operation of the department as delegated by the department chair.
  • Submits required reports and schedules in a timely manner to the department chair.
  • Maintains effective relationships with professional counterparts throughout the college and the community.
  • Maintains individual student advisement on degree plans and degree applications in order to comply with completion requirements.
  • Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for department programs.
  • Actively participates in college functions and events, and engages in community service.
  • Direct the schedule build for the discipline.
  • Ensure compliance with instructional practices.
  • Manage, budget, and order supplies.
  • Schedule department meetings and maintain minutes to submit to the Dean of the School.
  • Lead class observations for returning faculty.
  • Support LED and faculty in Core Program Outcome documentation and assist in assessment.
  • Hire adjuncts and oversee adjunct support plan.
  • Initial signature for forms (leave, incompletes, student schedule changes, etc.)
  • Oversee curricular development.
  • Attend meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform annual faculty evaluations.
  • Address student complaints.
  • Attend completion ceremonies, such college graduation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Holds an active, unencumbered PT license or PTA license in the State of Texas or eligible to be licensed
  • A minimum of a master's degree
  • A minimum of five years (or equivalent), full-time, post-licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years (or equivalent) of full-time clinical experience within any United States jurisdiction
  • Experience in classroom, lab, or clinical teaching experience
  • Experience in administration, management, and leadership. Experiences derived from the clinic are acceptable
  • Professional development or education in all of the following: educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation, and outcome assessmentjen

Preferred Qualifications Reporting Relationship Work Hours Varies according to schedule.
