Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) provide services to eligible students with disabilities (PK-12th) and adult students in the district's transition program (18-21 years), under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT). COTAs are an important part of a student's IEP team and provide support in a student's ability to participate in daily school activities, including academic and non-academic outcomes, social skills, recess, and self-help skills. COTAs have much to offer other educators in their collaborative effort to enhance the performance of ALL students in schools?.

Are you interested in making a difference? We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) with the following minimum qualifications to join our team!

  • Complete or currently enrolled in an accredited OTA program from AOTA certified school.
  • Possess or qualify for issuance of Washington state license through the Department of Health.
  • Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities.
  • Knowledge of strength-focused strategies for students, including trauma-informed and social emotional learning (SEL) practices.
  • Demonstrated skill or experience supporting and contributing to the success of students with disabilities.
  • Understanding of how injustice or racial inequity may impact students and families experience with school.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Strong relationship building skills to work with other educators and partners to provide services.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal direction and take the initiative to seek clarity and take action when needed.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and use sound judgement and decision making.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, work effectively under pressure, and remain flexible.
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
