STARTING RATE: $ 38.00 (paying $38.00 - $46.34 per hour, depending on experience)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Evaluate levels of speech, language, or swallowing difficulty. Identify clients' goals for treatment. Create and carry out an individualized treatment plan that addresses specific functional needs. Teach clients to make sounds, improve their voices, and maintain fluency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents (i.e., physical, cognitive, and socialization factors) in planning care delivery.
• Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to care for and treat residents with orthopedic, neurologic, and infectious diseases needs, if applicable.
• Attends all mandatory in-services by employee's anniversary date.
• Acts appropriately under the direction of the Director of Speech/Language Pathology and Rehabilitation Director and acts as an active interdisciplinary team member.
• If appropriate, supervise Speech/Language Aide or Rehabilitation Assistant in direct resident care and resident-related activities.
• Records clinical documentation according to the accepted regulatory, facility, and professional guidelines.
• Establishes and instructs caregivers in resident-specific maintenance programs.
• Records daily treatment charges according to facility policies.
• Secures necessary durable medical equipment and adaptive equipment for residents to facilitate independence if the Administrator approves.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Possess knowledge of age-specific developmental factors for adult and senior residents
• Must have a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech/Language Hearing Association
• Must have a current New York State License as a Speech/Language Pathologist
• Long-term care experience preferred but not required
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient
