Title: Speech /Language Pathologist- Early Childhood Special Education

Primary Function : Provide speech and language therapy for children who qualify for special education

services.

Location: To be determined

Directly Responsible To : Director of Early Childhood Special Education

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Speech/Language/Pathologist is responsible for effective performance in the following areas:

  1. Develop Individual Educational Programs (IEPs).
  2. Provide speech and language therapy to children.
  3. Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
  4. Plan with classroom teacher to provide an integrated approach to meeting the child’s needs.
  5. Assist in the development of a learning environment, emphasizing communication skills, sensory experiences and motor development.
  6. Implement a functional language curriculum.
  7. Maintain logs on children’s progress and development.
  8. Communicate effectively with parents regarding individual children’s progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have Masters Degree in Communications Disorders or Speech and Language Pathology.
  2. Must have the ability to relate well with young children.
  3. Must have the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
