DSHS Occupational Therapy Assistant 2
We have an opportunity for an Occupational Therapy Assistant 2 at Eastern State Hospital to join our team providing therapeutic treatment services at Eastern State Hospital.
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant on the Adult Psychiatric Services Unit, you will work with and learn from other talented professionals as you provide active treatment services to patients with behavioral health issues.

Who should apply?
Graduate of an approved educational program for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants
AND, Successful completion of the American Occupational Therapy Association's Occupational Therapy Assistant certification examination
AND, Current Washington State license, or license eligible to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
AND, 18 months experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant 1 or equivalent.
AND, Physical ability to move patients and equipment.
Note: Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Some of what you'll do:
Plan and implement activity programs to meet identified needs of patients
Assist in the development of plans and treatment goals for individuals and groups
Recommend interventions and plan treatment programs to meet those needs
Collect data for screening, evaluation, and re-evaluation
Model pro-social behaviors and manage patients' maladaptive behaviors while ensuring safety and security
Administer and score routine and criterion-referenced tests
Document patients' response to treatment
Communicate to others in a clear and effective manner
We are looking for someone who has:
In-depth working knowledge of group behavior and dynamics
Experience in intervening and de-escalating crisis/dangerous situations
Knowledge of behavioral health issues and recovery principles
Ability to work as a team member and to resolve personal conflicts in a calm, non-threatening manner
Ability to communicate effectively with management, peers, patients, and the public
Demonstrate proficient operation of Computer, copy machine, and patient lifting equipment.
