Harrison Township School District (PK-6) in Gloucester County has an anticipated opening for a full-time, tenure-track, certified Speech/Language Specialist to screen, evaluate, and provide services for students who are identified as needing support. Position will begin September 1, 2025. NJ Speech Language Specialist Certification required. State of New Jersey Standard or Provisional Teacher Certificate, or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing.
Included in the category of teaching staff members would be the following: professional personnel, self-contained classroom teacher, specific subject area teacher, art instructor, music instructor (classroom and instrumental), physical education instructor, remedial or corrective instructor, and any other certified professional serving the instructional needs of students.

Performance Responsibilities:
Serve as a member of the Child Study Team in regard to pupils age three to five as well as for those students in accordance to N.J.A.C. 6A:14-3.3.
Determine collaboratively, with the Child Study Team, the classification of pupils deemed eligible for special services in regard to those classified as communications handicapped and/or eligible for speech-language
services as well as auditorily handicapped in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:14-3.7.
Follow all rules and regulations prescribed by the New Jersey State Department of Education in the area of Speech-Language Specialist according to N.J.A.C. 6A:14-4.4; 6A:14-3.9(3); 6A:3.6.
Assess the speech and language of all children age three to five who have been referred to the Child Study Team as being potentially educationally disabled.
Prepare a written report of the speech and language assessment according to N.J.A.C. 6:A14-3.4.
At the completion of a speech-language evaluation, participate in a meeting to determine the eligibility for speech-language services with the parents and other school personnel in accordance to N.J.A.C. 6A:14-2.3(i)
Develop the basic plan of the Individualized Education Program for those students who are eligible for speech-language service in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:28-3.6.
Provide speech and language services as a related service for those pupils with an educational disability according to his/her individualized education program in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:14-4.4.
Maintain appropriate records for those special education students receiving speech-language services.
Participate in any Annual Review meeting of pupils, when appropriate.
Participate in the re-evaluation of students, when appropriate.
Serve as a consultant to the Supervisor of Student Services in the area of speech and language providing the Supervisor with a monthly report in regard to speech-language services provided to special education
students.
Maintain appropriate communication with the parents of those Special Needs students receiving speech-language services.
Provide consultation to the classroom teachers and Teachers of the Handicapped in reference to pupils experiencing speech-language difficulties.
Confer as necessary with appropriate professionals and refer students for further testing and/or treatment when necessary.
Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
Participate in curriculum development programs as assigned.
Participate in faculty meetings.
Participate in kindergarten screening.
Maintain abreast of State and local curriculum trends that impact instruction and the development of IEP's.
Maintain professional competence and continued improvement through in-service education activities, participation in workshops, courses, seminars, etc. meeting professional development goals.
Terms of Employment: 10 months
Evaluation: In accordance with N.J.A.C. and Employment Contract.
