Physical Therapist Assistant Overview
Join our team at Melmark New England as a Physical Therapist Assistant, where you will provide clinical physical therapy to individuals under the direct supervision of a fully licensed Physical Therapist. You will be responsible for managing treatment through direct therapeutic services, tracking information, and offering consultative services as needed. This role is ideal for someone ready to work with severe challenging behaviors, including children, adolescents, and adults with autism spectrum disorders, acquired brain injuries, neurological diseases, and comorbid mental health disorders. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will be expected to implement highly technical clinical and teaching programs that require constant alertness, attentiveness, and readiness to respond to students' needs.

Physical Therapist Assistant Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
- Associates Degree required
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Massachusetts
- Skills in specified treatment programs to accurately implement physical therapy plans
- Minimum of two (2) years of physical therapy assistant experience preferred
Physical Therapist Assistant Responsibilities
- Provide clinical physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Manage treatment delivery, track progress, and provide consultative services as needed
- Promote safety of self and students through adherence to safety policies, including body positioning, physical management techniques, Universal precautions, and proper lifting of students
- Use and maintain student adaptive equipment and augmentative devices, filing incident reports immediately if any defects
- Collect data accurately and demonstrate good problem-solving skills while working with students
- Create draft goals and objectives (which are reviewed and approved by the Physical Therapist) for the final planning meeting
- Communicate effectively with lead teachers, educational coordinators, and curriculum coordinators on student needs
- Maintain professional licensure and certification
