Intern - Respiratory Care Practitioner - Respiratory Care

Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies, and procedures the Intern - Respiratory Care Practitioner administers therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care to patients as ordered by the patient’s health care provider and under the supervision of a readily available RCP in the facility. The appropriate level of supervision and assigned respiratory care duties shall be based, in part, on competencies approved on the verification of education form completed by the student's respiratory care educational program director. The Intern Respiratory Care Practitioner may not develop RAP protocols or attend newborn deliveries independently.
Education: The Intern will have successfully completed a minimum of one year of an AMA approved educational program for Respiratory Therapists.
Licensure/Certification: Required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP. Student Respiratory Therapy License by the State of Ohio is required.
Limitations: The Intern – Respiratory Care Practitioner must work under the supervision of a state licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). The appropriate level of supervision and assigned respiratory care duties shall be based, in part, on competencies approved on the verification of education form completed by the student's respiratory care educational program director. They may not develop RAP protocols or attend newborn deliveries independently.
Skills: Must demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, the ability to multi-task, and attention to detail. Must also be able to work both independently and collaboratively with other health care providers.
