Academic Fieldwork Coordinator & Faculty for the Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program
University of Saint Mary invites applications and nominations for the position of Academic Fieldwork Coordinator & Faculty for the Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program . The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) is a full-time, 12-month, core faculty position in the entry-level OTD program. The AFWC is primarily responsible for the management and administration of the fieldwork program of the entry-level OTD program and compliance with ACOTE Standards (C.1.0.). The AFWC will be granted sufficient administrative release time and support to allow fulfilment of AFWC responsibilities with remaining time allocated for university and departmental teaching, service, and scholarly activities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, maintain fieldwork policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ACOTE standards.
- Establish and maintain adequate fieldwork sites for the OTD program, including maintaining signed memoranda of understanding (MOU) and/or affiliation agreements, compliance with site requirements, and maintaining site objectives and data.
- Collaborate with OTD faculty/fieldwork educators to develop fieldwork experiences with clearly defined objectives.
- Advise and mentor students regarding fieldwork selection/experiences, curriculum progression, and professional development.
- Perform duties of an Occupational Therapy Instructor including teaching within area of expertise.
- Contribute to the OTD program scholarship agenda.
- Contribute to integrated curriculum design to ensure delivery of the broad scope of occupational therapy practice.
- Contribute to program evaluation to assure quality assessment and program development.
- Participate in university service, community collaboration efforts, and professional development.
- Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
- Attend all required USM meetings and events.
- Maintain knowledge regarding program policies and procedures, the university academic catalog, and the faculty handbook.
- Cultivate a positive, health promoting department culture working with diverse faculty and staff and in support of the mission of University of Saint Mary.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or Division Chair.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctoral degree in an area of study which complements the OTD program.
- Must be an occupational therapist who is licensed in Kansas and in good standing (or be eligible for licensure in Kansas).
- Documented expertise in area of instruction/teaching responsibility.
- Evidence of engagement in scholarly work.
- Minimum of two years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy which must include (1) clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist, and (2) professional experience as a clinical fieldwork educator.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for a career in occupational therapy.
- Prior or current full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities in an Occupational Therapy program preferred.

About the Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program:
The Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program at USM prepares students for autonomous practice as entry-level occupational therapists. In keeping with the spirit of its founders – the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth – USM is committed to helping students realize their God-given potential and inspiring them to strive for academic excellence in coursework and in practice.
