JOB DESCRIPTION:
Complies with CLEP, Oklahoma's Priority Academic Skills and the
NCLB Act. Provides speech/language services to students that will
contribute to their adult development. Applies knowledge of current
research and theory to speech program. Plans and implements
services based on district objectives and the needs of assigned
students. Complies with the standards of performance and conduct
for teachers as set forth by the state department of education.
Establishes effective rapport and maintains positive and effective
relationships with parents, students and staff members. Observes all
rules, regulations, policies and practices of administration and the
District.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology; current Oklahoma
certification; current American Speech/Language & Hearing
Association (ASHA); Certification for Clinical Competency in
Speech Pathology (CCC-SLP); current Oklahoma Board of
Examiners for Speech/Language Licensure or temporary license
for entry level speech pathologists.
Entry level year speech pathologists are required to hold a
temporary Oklahoma license, have completed a master level
program in speech/language pathology and must be supervised by
a district SLP according to ASHA requirements.
Essential Job Functions: these statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.
1.Assesses and screens preschool, school age and private school students per teacher or parent request.
2.Develops pre-intervention programs targeting specific needs of the child, trains staff on specific techniques to help the child in the classroom, and consults with parents and staff regarding student needs and the referral process. Schedules meetings with parents and staff as necessary or directed.
3.Completes evaluations and re-evaluations timely; writes evaluations reports timely;

completes all speech referral paperwork necessary for gaining permission to evaluate. Writes the MEETS and/or IEP.
4.Develops student schedule for speech therapy and provides the speech therapy as per the IEP. Develops home practice for each student.
5.Complete assessments/checklists and progress reports per grading period or as directed by district; keeps speech logs per session for progress and Medicaid documentation and billing.
6.Provides assistive technology support for teachers and students as necessary, i.e., FM systems/hearing aids, communication devices, etc.
7.Performs other duties as requested including but not limited to testing, IEP meetings, site duties per school schedule such as recess, lunch, before and after school duty, etc.
ESSENTIAL BEHAVIOR:
Ability to use sound judgment in any situation. Must be able to respond rapidly and appropriately to needs of students. Must build harmonious rapport and work cooperatively with administrators, site staff students and parents. Insures that the provision and documentation of speech/language services to students is aligned and connected to the goals and objectives of the district.
ATTENDANCE STATEMENT:
Able to be in attendance per contract and for contracted extra duties as assigned by the district.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Primarily inside working conditions; some exposure to environmental conditions during outside duty/activities.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS:
Mobility as in standing and waling to perform job responsibilities, i.e., giving presentation, travel to job sites, etc.; sitting for extended periods of time; Seeing, hearing, talking so to deliver interventions clearly to students.
