LC State invites applications for the position of Program Director of Respiratory Therapy.
Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $65,000 - $68,000
Degree Required: Bachelor's degree awarded by an academic institution that is accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
Required Qualifications:
- Active, valid, Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license
- Minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs
- Complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program or ability to complete
- Ability to manage supply inventory
- Utilize Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Access database
- The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to work autonomously within a collaborative and dynamic faculty group
- Idaho State CTE teaching certification or ability to obtain within 3 years
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree from a nationally accredited institution
- Experience with curriculum development
- Experience with program accreditation
- Experience teaching in a clinical lab setting
- Experience recruiting, advising, and mentoring students
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and develop strong internal and external partnerships
- Demonstrated ability to provide direction and oversight to staff/students/student workers
Responsibilities:
The Program Director for the Respiratory Therapy program is a 12-month full-time non-tenure track professional staff member who will manage all aspects of the Respiratory Therapy program. The Program Director must provide effective leadership for the program, including, but not limited to, responsibility for communication, ongoing program planning and assessment, and fiscal management. The Program Director's administrative responsibilities include: fiscal planning; program planning and development; ongoing review and analysis of all program activities; ensuring that, in all aspects, the program meets the requirements of the accreditation Standards. Educational responsibilities include continuous curriculum development and review as well as teaching. The Program Director must work with the Director of Clinical Education to ensure that clinical education for program students is coordinated with didactic and laboratory activities and is sufficient to meet program outcomes required by the Standards.
The Program Director manages all clinical lab functions, including inventory management (monitoring and ordering of all student supplies), set-up for all lab sessions, and is an instructor for the didactic and lab courses needed for the Respiratory Therapy program completion. This position sets up, maintains, and monitors all equipment and testing activities. This position will plan, evaluate, budget, and assist in the selection of adjunct faculty and staff for the Respiratory Therapy program. Maintain CoARC Respiratory Therapy accreditation. Maintain professional development requirements. Coordinate the schedule of the Respiratory Therapy program offerings. Participate on the Respiratory Therapy Advisory Committee, attend meetings, and prepare and submit appropriate CTE reports. Maintain CTE instructor certification requirements.
Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
