Summary of Job Duties: The Respiratory Care Manager is a professional Registered Respiratory Care practitioner who leads under the direction of the Respiratory Care Director. The Respiratory Care Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily operations of the respiratory department, including patient care and clinic/unit business processes. As part of the UAMS Respiratory Care leadership team, Respiratory Care Manager provides expertise as a consultant, educator, clinician, and role model promoting the development of professional standards and improvement of quality patient care.
Qualifications: Required
  • Bachelors degree in Respiratory Care

  • 3 or more years of Respiratory Care experience

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license

  • Must hold a current Arkansas Licensed Respiratory Therapy Practitioner (LRCP)

Preferred

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

  • Adult Critical Care Specialty in Respiratory Care (ACCS)

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Special knowledge, abilities and skills:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).

  • Demonstrates effective analytical abilities to identify department needs that require intervention and/or revision.

  • Serves as a liaison with Director and Administration, exchanging information and identifying problems or needs related to clinical activity.

  • Maintains awareness of departmental status and potential problems by functioning as a working supervisor.

  • Assists in developing, interpreting, and implementing policies, guidelines, protocol, job descriptions, and performance appraisals annually.

  • Coordinates scheduling of leave time.

  • Demonstrates good managerial judgment in assigning duties appropriate to each individual.

  • Other duties as assigned.
