Goal:

Kent City Community Schools is seeking a qualified, compassionate, and student-centered Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. The SLP will provide services to students across the district who have speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders that adversely affect educational performance. This position involves screening, evaluation, intervention, and collaboration with educators, parents, and support staff to support student success.

What You Need:

  • Conduct evaluations and reevaluations in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide direct and consultative speech-language services as identified in student IEPs.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, progress monitoring, and therapy sessions.
  • Participate in IEP team meetings, METs, and parent conferences.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff to integrate communication goals into the educational environment.
  • Provide input on assistive technology and augmentative communication tools when needed.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive educational atmosphere.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and/or other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Education:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
  • Valid State of Michigan SLP license and/or temporary approval; CCC-SLP preferred.
  • Michigan Department of Education (MDE) approval or ability to obtain MDE approval.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and MTSS processes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.
