Research and Lab Services Position Overview This position is in the
Respiratory Neural Control Laboratory, a basic translation lab in the
Department of Physical Therapy. Our research focuses on understanding
how neurons contribute to plasticity and learning, particularly in the
context of respiratory control. We investigate the mechanisms by which
these neural circuits adapt to changes including spinal cord injury,
pharmacologic, and neuromodulatory interventions. Our mission is to
develop innovative therapeutic strategies that enhance breathing and
improve quality of life. Current studies utilize a multi-disciplinary
approach including behavioral studies, neurophysiological preparations,
and molecular techniques. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Perform
surgical procedures and animal care 2. Perform plethysmography and
analyze data 3. Perform histology/immunohistochemistry 4. Participate in
general lab maintenance including ordering supplies, organizing and
maintaining files and records 5. Prepare solutions and reagents for
experiments 6. IACUC writing and inspections 7.Performs all other duties
and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

Skills and Abilities Bachelor\'s degree in Biology, Neuroscience,
Physiology A minimum of 1 year of related experience. Molecular
experience Animal experience Must be willing to work flexible hours as
necessary Work independently and possess attention to detail Communicate
effectively in both written reports and oral presentations Work well in
a team setting Ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures
Proficiency in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint Preferred Knowledge, Skills
