We anticipate offering limited years of service placement on our salary schedule for any new hires in the 2025/26 school year in an effort to stay within our projected budget. We do give full credit on the salary schedule for educational hours earned past a Bachelor's or Master's degrees. Description: Identifies those students who have a speech and/or language disability; develop and implement a program for improvement and/or correction of speech and/or language disorders of articulation, language, fluency and voice Job Summary: Ensure safety of students Implement assistive technology devices (high and low tech) for children with limited verbal or nonverbal communication skills Prepare clear and timely lesson plans for speech/language/hearing disabled students Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required for students receiving speech/language/hearing services Provide guidance and counsel to the speech/language students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational development Collaborate with colleagues, students and parents to provide comprehensive speech/language services Maintain and improve professional competence in the specified area Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents through effective use of interim reports, report cards and conferences Observe ethics of the teaching profession; exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgment Monitor accomplishments of students through data collection on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required to parents Assist the administration in implementing all procedures and rules governing student life and conduct Coordinate notification of parents if student is not meeting goals/objectives or to set up conferences Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities Provide an individualized therapeutic program for children with common disorders related to genetic disorders,language disorder/delay, hearing impairment, articulation/phonological disorders, apraxia, autism spectrum disorder and delays of unknown origin Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, identifying and referring students with suspected speech and language handicaps Assess student speech and language skills using sound diagnostic practices; i.e. classroom observation, standardized measures, curriculum based Screen students to identify speech, language and hearing problems Refer and consult with outside agencies, supervisors, and specialists in related areas Provide in-service education to staff and parents on speech and hearing topics Serve as a consultant to teachers, school staff members and parents on topics concerning speech/language development, disorders and therapeutic programming Maintain accurate and complete records for students screened, referred or assessed for speech/hearing Responsible for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies Make referrals for medical or other professional attention necessary for the habilitation of speech or language handicaps Follow due process and policies as required for children with disabilities Conduct and participate in annual reviews for all students continuing in speech therapy Conduct re-evaluations for students continuing in speech therapy as required Assist in the development of district policies and procedures as related to speech and language services Use sound instructional practices to provide meaningful therapeutic programming relevant to the curriculum to facilitate academic success Actively participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings (IAT staffings, IEP/MFE meetings, parent/teacher conferences) Provide services in a variety of settings - individual, small/large groups, pull-out, collaborative and classroom in order to access therapy models Develop IEP and MFE reports in collaboration with professionals and parents Utilize one-half to one full day per week for diagnostic testing and classroom observation; coordination of the program; conferences concerning individual children; staff development activities; scheduling of students for therapy Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student educational/medical records and assessments including psychological evaluations Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation Attend meetings and in-services as required by Special Education Director/Superintendent Qualifications: Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) School Speech/Language Pathologist License, State of Ohio, Department of Education Ohio Licensure Speech/Language Pathology, State of Ohio Board of Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology Meets Highly Qualified criteria Working Conditions: Occasional requirement to travel, both daily and overnight Occasional weekend/evening/summer work Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue Occasional interaction among unruly children Occasional operation of a personal vehicle in inclement weather conditions, i.e., being prepared to work on all scheduled school days, except calamity days Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 10 pounds, e.g., paper boxes, deliveries of supplies and equipment Frequent repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writing Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb and stoop Application Procedure: Apply Online Via Applicant Tracking Website
