Boston Children's Hospital Autism Language Program (ALP) is seeking a full-time ASHA Certified Speech-Language Pathologist with Massachusetts Licensing or license qualified who specializes in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) with a focus on autism. This is NOT a Clinical Fellowship Position.

Position will be at the Waltham outpatient clinic location with potential future expansion to Brookline or other satellite sites.
This is a full-time, in-person/on-site position, with potential part remote/hybrid work options available in the future.

The Speech and Language Pathologist I will be responsible for:
- Performs augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) evaluations based upon a feature matching approach for individuals with a primary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Performs dynamic language and communication evaluations in areas of receptive language, expressive language, and speech functioning.
- Interviews and counsel families and patients regarding communication disorders.
- Plans and implements case management, follow up, and referral for patients.
- Documents and reports the results of communication evaluations.
- Contributes to teamwork within own department and other departments.
- Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Conducting AAC related research and/or developing AAC related projects within the scope of this clinical position is encouraged.
- Clinicians in the ALP are strongly encouraged to develop their own areas of clinical interest related to assessment and intervention that supports the mission of the program.
- Work requires the analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data to solve problems OR design relatively complex systems and programs.
- Work requires communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views.
- ASHA Certification in Speech-Language Pathology, Massachusetts SLP license or license qualified.
- The appropriate candidate has a minimum of 1 year of direct clinical experience using AAC tools (ranging from no-tech to high-tech) as part of evaluation and treatment for individuals with complex communication needs. (old: The appropriate candidate has at least one year of clinical experience working with AAC tools in treatment)
- The appropriate candidate has a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in dynamic evaluation and treatment of Level 2-3 autistic individuals with complex communication profiles (e.g., minimally speaking, non-speaking individuals). (old: extensive experience in evaluation and treatment of autistic individuals with complex communication needs.)
