The Wirt County Board of Education announces the following vacancy for the 2025-2026 school year:

POSITION: Speech Language Pathologist, Itinerant

CONTRACT: 200-day contract

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid WV Certification for Speech Language Pathologist Pre-K-Adult, ASHA Certification, preferred
• Able to be certified as a Medicaid Provider

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To help reduce or eliminate speech and/or language deficits that may interfere with learning.
• Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
• Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of students with communication deficits.
• Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
• Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech and language impairments.
• Provide screening to identify students with speech and language deficits.
• Provide information, support and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
• Complete Medicaid billing as needed.
• Provide age appropriate classroom experience to assist students with language development.
• Provide short term preventive/intervention student based activities when appropriate.
• Provide needed supervision and support for SPLA (Speech Language Pathologist Assistant) including all documentation and follow-up.
• Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

SUPERVISOR: Principal and/or Superintendent

SALARY: Wirt County Salary Scale for teachers based on degree and years' experience.
