Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and collaborative Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in supporting students with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and other complex communication needs. A strong focus on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology integration is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative speech-language services to students with IEPs, primarily those with significant communication needs.
  • Assess, recommend, and implement AAC systems, including high-tech and low-tech communication tools.
  • Collaborate closely with special and general education teachers, occupational and physical therapists, other related-service providers, paraprofessionals, and families.
  • Support integration of assistive technology into general education settings to promote inclusive practices.
  • Participate in IEP development, data collection, progress monitoring, and team meetings.
  • Provide professional development and training to staff on AAC, communication strategies, and device usage.
  • Stay current on best practices in speech-language pathology and assistive communication.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Valid Pennsylvania SLP License and ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
  • PA Department of Education Certification (Educational Specialist I or II) or eligibility
  • Experience working with students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and other complex communication needs
  • Proficiency with AAC systems (e.g., Proloquo2Go, TouchChat, LAMP Words for Life) and other assistive technology tools
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Highly preferred experience:

  • Prior experience in a school-based or pediatric setting
  • Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles
  • Experience with dynamic assessment and device trials
  • Familiarity with inclusive education models and co-teaching practices
