The Patient Care Coordinator for the Surgical Inpatient Unit plays a critical role in organizing and directing the daily operations of the respective unit. This position involves close collaboration with the Nurse Manager to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal staff performance. The ideal candidate will drive high standards of care, foster collaboration, and contribute to continuous improvement within the healthcare network.

Key Responsibilities

Unit Leadership

  • Daily Operations \: Assist in organizing and directing the unit's operations from shift to shift.
  • Patient Flow Coordination \: Work closely with the Nurse Manager to manage patient flow, including patient rounding, bed assignments, and expediting discharges.
  • Department Collaboration \: Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and communication.
  • Staff Assignments \: Make staff assignments based on patient acuity, skill levels, and competencies.
  • Staffing Levels \: Access staffing grids and Visionware every four hours to ensure adequate staffing for current and upcoming shifts.
  • Regulatory Compliance \: Participate in monitoring and evaluating data for regulatory purposes and unit objectives set by the Director.
  • Effective Communication \: Ensure hand-off reports between departments and at shift end are conducted effectively and efficiently.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications

-Graduate of National League for Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) accredited school of nursing, or three years of related professional nursing experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.

-Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)

-2+ years experience as an RN within specialty area or related specialty area preferred
