Job Duties

Provides therapeutic/recreational activities determined by the Director to be pertinent to patient population.

Provides appropriate individual patient interventions in group activities and in unit milieu; modifies scheduled activities to meet patient needs.

Plans for further treatment based on established criteria and according to treatment plan.
Provides feedback regarding patient=s progress towards goals to the Recreation Therapist so
he/she can document progress in the medical record.

Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.

Other Job Duties
Provides in-service training to other staff.
Enhances professional growth by attending in-services and educational programs.
Assists in preparing for special events (e.g., parties, trips).

Contributes to department planning of comprehensive therapeutic activates programs for units.
Identifies problems and contributes to department problem-solving process relative to patient care.
Participates in treatment planning conferences.
Attends scheduled staff meetings and maintains communication with staff.
Performs other related duties as required.
Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.

Position Qualifications
1-2 years' experience as a direct service provider in a Behavioral Health facility where knowledge of behavioral illnesses, patient care, milieu therapy, recreation therapy acquired.
Practical skill set in crafts, horticulture, and recreation/sports groups.
Good interpersonal skills.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.

Education
High school graduation or equivalent required.

Treatment rooms and patient care units.
Mobility and manual dexterity.
Frequent prolonged standing/walking.
Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching.
Lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients.

Salary commensurate with experience within posted range.

$16.95/HR
