The Potomac Center is a 62-bed licensed Intermediate CareFacility (ICF). This program focuses on using therapeutic interventions toempower residents as they learn the skills they need to successfully return tocommunity living.
The Secure Evaluation and Therapeutic Treatment (SETT)Program, located within the Potomac Center campus, is a 32-bed licensedForensic Residential Center that provides services to individuals withintellectual disabilities and court involvement within a safe and secureenvironment. The program provides assistance as they resolve their courtinvolvement and work toward transitioning to a less secured environment. TheSETT utilizes active treatment as well as providing evaluation, assessment andcompetency attainment education. GRADE 19 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, SETT/ Potomac Center, 1380 Marshall St., Hagerstown, MD Main Purpose of Job This full-time contractual position will organize and manage a professional Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) service in order to provide opportunities for PC/SETT residents to maximize their communication, language, and swallowing functions. This is accomplished by ensuring that evaluation, treatment planning, and implementation are completed as requested by the interdisciplinary team. This position will act as a liaison between Speech and all other departments and the community to help accomplish the mission of the facility. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Set by the licensing requirements of the Maryland State Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers & Speech-Language Pathologists.
Experience: Three years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist or Audiologist.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Speech Pathologist and Audiologist classification or Speech Pathologist or Audiologist specialty codes in the Speech Pathology and Audiology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The desired candidate should possess the following:- Experience coordinating speech-language and hearing programs
- Experience working with intellectually and mentally disabled populations
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license from the Maryland State Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers & Speech-Language Pathologists, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.
2. Employees in this classification must renew their license in accordance with Health Occupations Article, Title 2 Audiology, or Title 19 Speech-Language Pathology of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
3. Employees in this classification are required to possess a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology or Audiology. A copy of the current certificate must accompany the application form.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
BENEFITSContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
