Introduction We at the Potomac Center/SETT facility provide qualityperson-centered support to adults with intellectual disabilities at our campusin Hagerstown, Maryland. Our aim is to partner with the community to help our residentsachieve their goals.
The Potomac Center is a 62-bed licensed Intermediate CareFacility (ICF). This program focuses on using therapeutic interventions toempower residents as they learn the skills they need to successfully return tocommunity living.
The Secure Evaluation and Therapeutic Treatment (SETT)Program, located within the Potomac Center campus, is a 32-bed licensedForensic Residential Center that provides services to individuals withintellectual disabilities and court involvement within a safe and secureenvironment. The program provides assistance as they resolve their courtinvolvement and work toward transitioning to a less secured environment. TheSETT utilizes active treatment as well as providing evaluation, assessment andcompetency attainment education. GRADE ASTD11 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, SETT/Potomac Center, 1380 Marshall St., Hagerstown, MD Main Purpose of Job This full-time contractual position will follow an occupational therapy evaluation plan of care/goals, and document specific occupational therapy services provided for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disorders (IDD) in a residential and forensic setting. This position is solely responsible for the Occupational Therapy of the Potomac Center/SETT facility. This position functions as a member of the treatment team and maintains individual records. This position also supports the mission of the organization through participation in clinical efforts to provide Active treatment in a residential and forensic environment. The foundation of this program is respect and a commitment to safety in the least restrictive manner possible. Must be licensed by the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice under the licensing requirements for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Determined by the Maryland StateBoard of Occupational Therapy Practice under the licensing requirements forLicensed Occupational Therapy Assistants.
Experience: Two years of experience as a Licensed OccupationalTherapy Assistant.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forcesmilitary service experience as a commissioned officer in TherapyAssistant classifications or Therapy Assistant specialty codesin the Occupation Therapy field of work on a year-for-year basis for therequired experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Experience providing occupational therapy treatments under the supervision of an OT
  • Experience implementing personalized care plans with intellectually disabled and forensic population
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS 1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess acurrent license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from the Maryland StateBoard of Occupational Therapy Practice, Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 WadeAvenue, Baltimore, MD 21228.
2. Employees in this classification may be required tosuccessfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintaincurrent certification.
3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties whichrequire the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will berequired to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State ofMaryland. SELECTION PROCESS

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
