Job Overview:

Evaluates disorders of hearing and balance. Provides aural rehabilitation therapy and dispenses hearing aids. Provides patient and family education and documents patient status. Coordinates care as appropriate with other members of the interdisciplinary team. Works with neonate, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • MA/MS Degree
  • Graduation from an accredited Audiology Program required

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • One to three years clinical affiliations associated with degree requirements
  • NJ Audiology Licensure
  • ASHA certification in Audiology
  • BLS certification upon application or within the first year of employment

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Alternating weekends / holidays
  • Full Time

  • Per Diem

Essential Functions:

  • Attends at least one continuing education course per year and meets minimum continuing education requirements to maintain licensure. Provides follow-up inservice to appropriate professional staff. Attends all required departmental inservices. Completes required competencies. Maintains CPR certification.
  • Demonstrates effective use of standardized tests and audiology equipment when evaluating the patient s ability to hear. Performs effective hearing aid assessments.
  • Maintains patient care documentation according to departmental policy, JCAHO and ASHA standards. Submits patient charges completely and on tome. Submits weekly statistic sheet on time.
  • Provides direct patient care 75% of working day.
  • Supervises affiliating students according to ASHA and appropriate university guidelines.
