PACE KC Occupational Therapist

As an Occupational Therapist for PACE KC, you will be part of a team of caregivers to provide care for the people who need it most. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the design and implementation of an occupational therapy program for participants. The Occupational Therapist performs assessments of participants and establishes treatment programs to improve their level of function.

In your role you will:

  • Develops and implements individual therapy for participants as needed or prescribed in the plan of care to maintain strength, range of motion, endurance, and/or dexterity in the upper extremities.
  • Using all information sources available completes initial assessment, periodic assessments and annual assessments on participants' functional ability and restorative potential
  • Assesses participant home environment and makes recommendations for adaptations to improve independent function and enhance safety.
  • In cooperation with IDT, plans and performs therapeutic interventions designed to keep the participant in the community and enhance quality of life to the greatest extent possible.
  • Instructs caregivers (staff and informal) in proper activities and modifications to improve functions.
  • Facilitates or participates in family meetings, support groups and Family Caregiver meetings as required.
  • In cooperation with Physical Therapy, provides leadership within the IDT to ensure continuity and coordination of care
  • Assesses and provides treatment to improve perceptual motor deficits, facial weakness, sensory deficits, and cognitive limitations. Evaluates the effectiveness of treatment and modifies goals as necessary.
  • Provides treatments to increase self-care skills including bed mobility, feeding, hygiene, grooming, dressing, transfer ability, communication and homemaking as needed.
  • Informs participants, family members, and associates regarding occupational therapy and rehabilitative procedures. Educates participants, family members, and associates regarding in-home exercise programs, gait training, transfers, activities of daily living, home modifications, care and use of equipment.
  • Ensure that required equipment and supplies for the occupational therapy program are available or ordered as needed.
  • Coordinates with medical equipment and orthotics providers to arrange appointments and share pertinent information.

Successful Candidates will have:

  • Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of Missouri
  • Certification with the National Board of Certification in Occupation Therapy (NBCOT)
  • 2 years of experience working as an Occupational Therapist
  • 1 years of experience working with the geriatric population
