Summary

The Credit Balance Specialist analyzes all credit balances before a refund or adjudication is considered and/or processed. The Credit Balance Specialist also analyzes accounts for posting errors and may assist with the Medicaid/Medicare Quarterly Credit Balance Reports to include all entities. The Credit Balance Specialist performs duties while remaining compliant to all CMS and Cape Fear Valley Health Compliance guidelines. May assist with the preparation of the annual Escheatment Report to ensure all North Carolina Escheatment processes are followed. This position requires detailed analysis and critical thinking to determine what is necessary to correct an account. This position must have knowledge of insurance and coordination of benefits within the healthcare setting. Customer service, organizational and communication skills are essential to this position. This position requires an ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in an occasionally stressful environment. This position also requires strong computer skills, typing & ten-key skills and a working knowledge of HIPAA guidelines.Must have a minimum of two year's clerical experience, preferably in a hospital business office or accounting department. Numerical ability requried verifying accuracy. Clerical perception required for detecting errors in computation and posting. Must be able to pass a Windows aptitude test and 10-key calculator test.Near visual acuity required reading various records and keying of data quickly and accurately. Motor coordination and finger dexterity required. Good communication skills both oral and written.
