Mondays through Thursdays: 2:30-6:30pm and Fridays 8:30-5:00pm

Education/Experience Required:
High School Education 1 year of experience as a Rehab Aide or Rehab Technician

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Good communication skills. Competency in all Rehab Aide I duties.

Major Responsibilities:
Performance of daily maintenance routines for various rehabilitation departments
1)Performs daily sanitation of PT/OT Gym areas, i.e., mat tables, tables, parallel bars and therapeutic equipment.

2)Notifies appropriate personnel regarding equipment malfunctioning, hydra equipment.

3)Maintains general clinic tidiness.

4)Maintains splint area ensuring that supplies are properly stored and countertops are clear. Refills water levels.

5)Disinfects equipment.

6)Loads and unloads dishwasher.

7)Stores, maintains and refills disinfectant according to hospital specifications.

8)Sets up and cleans up therapy rooms for specific procedures. 11. Delivers and picks up equipment for special disinfecting procedures. 12. Closes site following established procedure.

Performance of providing/assisting with clerical responsibilities as directed by supervisor/therapist.
2)Assists in the preparation and maintenance of patient files.

3)Copies forms, reports, records.

4)Addresses and fills envelopes for mailings.

5)Prepares packages for mailing.

6)Sends copy requests to Copy Center.

7)Faxes documents according to Hospital policy.

8)Sorts and distributes mail and reports to appropriate staff.

9)Distributes office supplies and therapy materials upon delivery.

10)Accepts, verifies, and puts away supplies when delivered. 11. Orders food for therapy services. 12. Performs other clerical duties as back up or as assigned.

1)Maintains department supplies/materials, including inventory, ordering and restocking.

Performance of basic modality/exercise treatments.
1) Delivers basic modality treatments after having been instructed and credentialed in safety techniques and precautions under the direct supervision of a therapist to include hot/cold packs, Hydra, but not to include Electrical Stimulation or advanced therapeutic techniques.

Preparation of patient for treatment to facilitate patient care
1)Prepares patient for treatment after having been instructed and credentialed in safety techniques and precautions.

2)Removes bandages/dressings prior to treatment; rebandages after completion of treatment if indicated.

3)Assists patient with dressing and undressing.

Performance of patient transportation and routine errands between various rehabilitation settings
1)Performs transporting duties as requested, i.e., wheelchair and cart and various life support equipment meeting an assigned schedule.

2)Delivers supplies and equipment to patients room and rehab satellite units.

3)Completes errands throughout hospital as assigned.

Performance of basic gait training and therapeutic exercise under the direct supervision of a therapist to aide in the delivery of patient care.
1)Performs basic gait training with patients after the therapist has instructed the patient and aide in the proper gait technique and precautions.

2)Performs basic exercises with patients after the therapist has instructed the aide and patient in the proper technique and precautions.

Performance of basic patient transfer techniques to facilitate patient care.
1)Performs basic patient transfer techniques after having been instructed and credentialed in safety techniques and precautions.

2)Performs the transfer techniques, stand pivot, slide board, sit to stand, and cart transfers under the direct supervision of a therapist to aid in the delivery of patient care.

3)Communicates potential patient problems and abnormal patient behavior to attending therapist.

Communication of patients needs/problems and notification of appropriate clinical staff to facilitate patient care.
1) Provides information regarding observed patient problem(s)/need and immediately notifies appropriate clinical staff.

Utilization of proper isolation procedures & techniques as appropriate.
1)Maintains knowledge of isolation procedures and utilizes proper techniques as appropriate especially in hydrotherapy area after having been instructed and credentialed in safety techniques and precautions.

Responsible for self-development.
1)Participates in hospital/facility activities, including inservices and educational programs.

2)Actively works towards completion of individual and related departmental goals.

3)Attends scheduled staff meetings and inter/intradepartmental team meetings.

Performance of other clerical and patient care responsibilities as required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
The physical demand level and degree of strenuous activity ranges from occasional sedentary work to regular heavy work involving moving/lifting of patients. Ability to perform very heavy lifting - Up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly. Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods of time. May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases. Exposure to risk of blood-borne pathogens. May be subjected to varying and unpredictable situations.
This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

$19.45 - $29.20
