Summary:

Provides physical therapy as prescribed by the patient's physician

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: (Note: Other Duties May Be Assigned)

To provide physical therapy as prescribed by a physician which can be safely provided in the home and assisting the physician in evaluating patients by applying diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint, and functional abilities test.

To observe and record activities and findings in the clinical record

Report to the physician the patient's reaction to treatment and any changes in the patient's condition.

To instruct the patient and family in care and use of physical therapy devices.

To instruct other health team personnel including, when appropriate, home health aides and family members in certain phases of physical therapy with which they may work with the patient.

To instruct the family on the patient's total physical therapy program.

Supervises the Physical Therapy Assistant in coordination with the Director of Rehab.

Participates in all required case conferences, utilization reviews, orientations, in-services and continuing education meetings.

Qualifications:

Graduate of an Accredited School of Physical Therapy

Education and/or Experience:

One year of physical therapy experience is required.

Language Skills:

Must possess good communication skills, both written and verbal in English. Ability to communicate in other foreign languages is desirable.

Mathematical Skills:

Math skills required

Reasoning Ability:

Able to work under pressure and handle multi-task functions. Must be able to deal effectively with people. Must be self-motivated and resourceful.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Licensed as a physical therapist in the State of Florida.

Physical demands for this position include an ability to assist and lift patients and have a physical exam that is free from communicable diseases. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
