Department : Therapeutic Recreation

Job Title : Recreation Therapist

Coordinated With : Director of Therapeutic Recreation / Nursing Team / All clinical staff

Education / Experience / Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, or 2 years equivalent experience working with disabled children, early childhood education, or geriatric patients. Certification preferred. Excellent communication skills, critical thinking skills, and computer skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Organize and conduct stimulating, and appropriate therapeutic activity/ recreation programs for the population as assigned by the Director.

Transport, and encourage resident participation in group or individual therapeutic programs based on residents interest, or capabilities.

Maintain written program statistics on a daily basis and complete individual resident documentation and MDS updates.

Maintain all equipment and supplies, supply areas and inventory.

Attend staff meetings and in-services as required.

Must maintain a flexible schedule, as needed for the department. Every other weekend is usual.

Job Hazards/ Physical and Mental Demands:

Physical demands include but are not limited to, standing, kneeling, walking, lifting, and pushing wheelchairs. Emotional stability. Normal vision, and hearing, or adaptive devices to compensate for any disability in the same.
