Description:

RSU 73 is looking for a part-time Occupational Therapist to provide services to students who receive special education services in grades 6-12. The School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) works to support students physical and functional development by addressing motor, sensory, and self-care skills that impact their ability to engage in academic and social activities. The OT will collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create and implement individualized plans that help students succeed in the classroom and school environment, as well as maintain accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions, progress notes, and other required documentation. Participation in the IEP is required.

Qualifications:

• EDUCATION: Minimum of a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

• LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION: Valid state license as an Occupation Therapist. Certification from the National Board of for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.

• Criminal History Records Check through the Maine Department of Education

• EXPERIENCE: Previous experience working with children in a school or pediatric setting preferred.

• SKILLS:

• Strong understanding of child development and the impact of physical, sensory, and cognitive challenges on learning and social interactions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to create and implement individualized, goal-directed therapy plans.
• Knowledge of state and federal education laws related to special education services (e.g., IDEA, Section 504).
