Physical Therapist (Summer Programs 2025)The Physical Therapist, as a member of the educational team, supports the education of students suspected of, and/or, diagnosed with a disability in their least restrictive environment. The Physical Therapist develops, implements and coordinates a physical therapy program which provides screening, evaluation and intervention Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts appropriate evaluation of students referred for related services under IDEA and prepares written reports of the evaluations and findings. Assesses students' functional capabilities and/or classroom environment for the purpose of determining the student's functional level and develops recommendations and/or curriculum access. Assesses students' gross motor and development skills (i.e., perceptual-motor, motor coordination, sensory development, muscle strength, etc.) for the purpose of determining their deficits and develops recommendations. Consults with students, parents and/or guardians for the purpose of enhancing student access and mobility in school and in school related activities/functions. Consults with teachers, parents and/or guardians, other personnel and outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information to develop plans for services and/or making recommendations. Coordinates with the IEP team for the purpose of determining appropriate treatments, etc. to meet the needs of specific students and attends IEP Team Meetings. Develops treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials from the IEP for the purpose of remediating students' motor skill deficits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Provides services at multiple work sites for the purpose of providing direct therapy interventions and assistance as required. Conduct appropriate evaluation of students referred for related services under IDEA and prepare written reports of the evaluations and findings. Develops and maintains efficient schedules, including minimizing travel time and maximizing professional time. Utilizes an approach that encourages student participation in the least restrictive environment through embedded, integrated therapy. Has the physical ability to execute the job responsibilities that may include transferring, lifting or shifting students, as well as transferring, lifting or shifting equipment and managing equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Support Services.
Job Requirements
Masters' degree from an accredited college or university; or significant course work in the area of teaching children with disabilities. Holds a valid Massachusetts licensure for Physical Therapy. Other combinations of applicable education, training and experience that provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform the job effectively may be considered.
