Massage Therapist (1 Month Furlough) - Athletic Medicine - Part Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

Responsible for providing massage therapy services to of Student Athletes including consultations, and treatment plans. Uses a variety of massage therapy techniques to control pain, reduce stress, and promote relaxation in a healthcare setting. Reviews medical history and suggests appropriate massage techniques based on current health. Records, treatment, response, and progress records. Massage and knead the muscles and soft tissues of the human body to treat medical conditions, injuries, or wellness maintenance.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides professional massage and bodywork services to promote healing and a sense of wellbeing.
  • Integrates systematic manipulation of, or pressure on, soft tissue of the human body for therapeutic purposes.
  • Provide therapeutic massage through a variety of modalities (Sports, Stretching Techniques, etc).
  • Uses a variety of massage therapy techniques to control pain, reduce stress, and promote relaxation.
  • Record treatment, response, and progress records.
  • Confer with Student Athletes to determine painful or stressed areas of the body.
  • Massage and knead the muscles and soft tissues of the human body to treat medical conditions, injuries, or wellness maintenance.
  • Advice and counsel on stretching, strengthening or relaxation methods
  • Consult with other health care professionals, such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, physicians, and psychologists, to develop treatment plans for clients.
  • Responsible for performing duties while traveling and working nights and weekends.
  • Responsible for reporting any misconduct and/or actions not in accordance with department guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High school or equivalent.
  • Req Specialized/technical training Graduate from an accredited Massage Therapy Program.
  • Req 2 years 2-3 years experience as a Massage Therapist position.
  • Req Knowledge of Massage Theory, Anatomy, and Physiology.
  • Req Ability to travel and work nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref 5 years experience.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Licensed Massage Therapist California Massage Therapy Council (CMTC) certification required.
  • Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only).
  • *Per LA Fire City Code regulations If working within the following areas, employee is exempt from this requirement: Student Health Center and Athletics facilities (within B occupancy).
The hourly rate range for this position is $29.00 - $45.20.
