We are currently seeking dedicated Physical Therapists (PT) to join our team in a local traveling role. This position offers a dynamic work environment and requires a flexible, adaptable approach to meet the evolving needs of students and schools.

Wake Forest Charter Academy Wake Forest, NC

Research Triangle Charter Academy - Durham, NC

Peak Charter Academy - Apex, NC

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide direct and indirect physical therapy services as outlined in students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or Section 504 plans.

Conduct assessments of gross motor skills, functional mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and postural control for students referred for special education evaluation to help determine eligibility for services.

Participate in the IEP/Section 504 process, providing input on assessment measures, intervention strategies, and student progress.

Collaborate as a member of the special education team to deliver comprehensive services to students with disabilities.

Consult with teachers, school administrators, parents, and relevant stakeholders regarding students physical development, mobility needs, and accessibility accommodations.

Work closely with teachers and staff to integrate physical therapy strategies into the school environment and support students' participation in academic and non-academic activities.

Provide training to staff and caregivers on safe and effective positioning, transfers, adaptive equipment use, and mobility strategies.

Develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust physical therapy interventions in collaboration with school staff and parents.

Utilize treatment strategies that promote functional mobility, strength, balance, endurance, coordination, and overall independence in the school setting.

Recommend, modify, and monitor adaptive equipment and assistive devices to enhance students' physical access and participation.

Maintain an accurate record of student caseload requirements and update the Special Education Administrator on any changes.

Maintain a detailed schedule and service logs, and track student progress toward therapy goals.

Demonstrate professionalism in handling confidential matters and materials.

Pursue ongoing professional development to stay informed about current practices and research in school-based physical therapy.

Participate in school initiatives such as accessibility planning and safety assessments to support student development and inclusion.

Attend parent-teacher meetings as needed to discuss student progress and therapy plans.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the building principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid state licensure as a Physical Therapist

Relevant experience in school settings

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and commitment to student success
