Description:

Sleep Disorder Center - RRT or RPSGT

Schedule: 3 12-hour nights.

Rotation: Week 1 - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Specializes in the application of scientific knowledge and theory to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. Assumes primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities specific to his or her clinical area, including responsibility involved in supervision of students enrolled in respiratory care programs. The Respiratory Therapist may be required to exercise considerable independent clinical judgement in the respiratory care of patients under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

Graduation from a CoARC accredited program in respiratory care with an associate's degree required. Bachelor's Degree desirable. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required and licensed by the State of New York.

Must enroll in ASTEP (Introduction to Sleep Medicine for Technologists - Clinical Experience pathway) and obtain RPGST or RRT-SDS certification within 24 months of hire/transfer.

Progress on ASTEP must be at least 1 module per month with last one completed no later than 18 months after hire/transfer.

OR:

Polysom Technologist with associate degree in polysom with board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) required.

Must have a current RPGST or RRT credential upon hire/transfer to the sleep center & must maintain that credential as current during the entire time of employment in the department

Participates in orientation as well as continuing education as mandated by the State of New York and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of practice expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

BLS/CPR Certification within orientation period

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Clinical Setting. Exposure class I. Routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Medium work: standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling

Pay Range: $35.60 - $53.70

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
