DEFINITION**A skilled, trained professional counselor who can perform and complete daily job responsibilities with efficiency and competency. This individual is capable of holding a leadership position with responsibility and accountability. A SUD Mental Health Counselor can identify and implement industry standards, policies, and procedures as they relate to the area of substance abuse counseling as set by the job responsibilities and standards of NPRC.**QUALIFICATIONS**- Diploma or GED, but a Bachelor's in the Behavioral Health or Human Health fields preferred;- Michigan Certification Board of Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) CADC certification or an approved development plan;- Knowledgeable of City, State, and Federal, TJC, and/or CARF, and Medicare standards and regulatory guidelines for Behavioral Health Care;- Computer and internet basics, web-based navigation, and data-entry skills are a must;- Microsoft Suite knowledge, and Methasoft software is a plus;- Experienced and trained in: - Crisis Intervention - Individual/group counseling methods and techniques - Problem Identification - Motivational Interviewing and Assessment**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**1. Case Management;2. Maintains assigned client schedule (weekly or biweekly individual sessions, face-to-face or telehealth);3. Enters and maintains client information on the agency and PIHP's web-based EHR data management systems (Methasoft & MH-WIN);4. Maintain confidential client information (PHI);5. Maintains compliance with the organization's Code of Ethics and Confidentiality policies in accordance with the [Health Insurance]( Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulation;6. Effective communicator, both oral and written, in groups and with peers;7. Monitors, reviews, and uploads urine drug screens (UDS) results into the agency and PIHP's software systems (Methasoft & MH-WIN);8. Effectively assess the client during individual sessions; obtains and documents information that determines the initial and continuing eligibility for recovery treatment services;9. Identify and maintain therapeutic interactions (cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) etc.);10. Assess and complete authorizations and reauthorizations;11. Develop person-centered treatment plans, specific to the individual's needs;12. Identify and document measurable goals and objectives for the individual in the Treatment Plan, Treatment Plan Reviews, and show cohesion in Progress and Telehealth Note documentation;13. Effectively initiate referral(s) as needs are identified and include in Treatment Plans, Treatment Plan Reviews, and follow-up documentation;14. Coordinate integrative care with PCP and other specialists, whose care the client receives;15. Conduct group sessions.
