A staff Occupational Therapist assumes responsibility in the daily activities of therapy services. This includes the potential for evaluating and developing treatment plans for outpatients. A staff therapist administers occupational therapy treatment to patients as defined in the Kansas Occupational Therapy Practice Act. A staff therapist has the responsibility for the overall direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of professional and supportive staff and students in their area of rehabilitation services.
Key Responsibilities:
Administers occupational therapy treatments as defined by the Kansas Occupational Therapy Practice Act, under the supervision of an OT.
Prepares patients and therapy equipment for treatment sessions.
Participates in the daily operations of therapy services, including patient care and general support.
Assists with student supervision, including the instruction, direction, and evaluation of OTA students in the facility.
Completes documentation and treatment records accurately and appropriately.
Assists with organization of the therapy department, as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Supervision & Collaboration:
Reports to the Inpatient Therapy Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and experience:
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and/or be state licensed.
Preferably a minimum of two (2) years' experience.
Preferably a member of the AOTA and/or Kansas Occupational Therapy Association
Knowledge and Skills:
Must know principles and practice of Occupational Therapy, be familiar with the American Occupational Therapy Association Code of Ethics.
Licensure and certifications:
Must have/be eligible for State Licensure. Licensure must be obtained as per state law.
Must have/be immediately obtain BLS. Must maintain BLS certification.
