POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the administration, interpretation and evaluation of tests and measurements. Plans and modifies treatment programs. Works with neonatal through geriatric patients with clinical competency, as applicable. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
Completed Supervised Clinical Practicum hours required to graduate from an accredited Speech Language Pathology program
Graduated with a minimum of a Masters level degree from an accredited Speech Language Pathology program
Passed a Texas State Board for Speech Language Pathology Exam
Possession of Intern License from the state of Texas prior to orientation.
In process of completing Clinical Fellowship (CFs) Hours for Texas State License and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
BLS-Obtained thru approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network
Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Good written and verbal communication skills required.
Some evening or weekend work will be required
Bilingual English/Spanish. (preferred)
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
No previous work experience necessary.
Skill in establishing a balanced perspective on mission effectiveness and business results is critical.
Knowledge of State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations.
Responsibilities:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices.
Perform patient evaluations/consultations and interpret results.
Review case file to obtain background information prior to evaluation/consultation; interview patient and family/caregiver; administer formal and informal tests; interpret results of tests and determine diagnoses; provide results to patient and family/caregiver and to referral source; consult with other professionals; make recommendations for treatment; make referrals for other evaluations/consultations; maintain productivity in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
Perform appropriate treatment of patients; develop treatment plan in conjunction with patient and family/caregiver; implement treatment plan and monitor progress; review treatment plan and modify as needed; involve family/caregiver in treatment through education and supportive counseling; provide monitoring and follow-up services.
Maintain records; document evaluation procedures, results, diagnoses and recommendations; document treatment goals, procedures, progress and recommendations; document telephone calls, consultations and patient/family conferences. Attend and participate in continuing education programs; provide in-service teaching to colleagues;
Other duties as assigned.

B. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
