Patients who need occupational therapy fall into a wide range of capabilities. Some progress quickly through therapy plans. Others struggle and need modified plans. All of them need hands-on observation and guidance. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is the link between the Registered OT and the patient. The COTA is the one who greets each patient with a smile, listens and observes to determine their progress, and maintains records for the OT to review.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Provides occupational therapy, including selection and use of adaptive equipment.
Performs comprehensive occupational therapy treatment and related follow-up services including discharge planning.
Reports patient progress and collaborates with evaluating therapist to implement therapy plan of care.
Collaborates with patient and other healthcare personnel or outside agencies regarding coordination of care.
Documents and submits patient reports and charges within the established timeframe.
Exercises clinical judgment following an occupational therapy plan of care.
Provides occupational therapy according to standards of care defined by the state practice act and other professional and governing agencies.
Trains and educates patients and family members or others and documents understanding of treatment plan and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's Degree- Accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program- Required
Occupational Therapist Assistant License (OTA)- State Licensing Board- Required
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)- American Heart Association- Required
Driver's License- Required
Auto Insurance- Required
1 Year- Occupational Therapist Assistant Experience- Required
1 Year- Home Healthcare Experience- Preferred
