Medcor is currently looking for a part-time Occupational Therapist in our employer based clinic setting in Cedar Rapids, IA, This position is 6 hours per week, and working days are flexible.
The role of the Occupational Therapist shall minimally consist of interpreting referrals; evaluating each patient; identifying and documenting individual patients problems and goals; establishing and documenting a plan of care; providing appropriate treatment; determining the appropriate portions of the treatment program to be delegated to assistive personnel; appropriately supervising individuals as described in your states rules; providing timely patient reevaluation; maintaining timely and adequate patient records of all occupational therapy activity and patient responses consistent with the standards found in state rules .
This position will work closely with client leadership and risk management, your operations manager, other on-site medical care providers, and off-site medical providers (per client contract).
A typical day in the life of a Medcor Occupational Therapist:
- Communicate issues and concerns immediately with the Operations Manager as needed
- Meet the patient's goals and needs, providing quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results and determining scientifically evidenced based occupational therapy treatment plans ( Treatment will be provided through direct access based on state of practice Occupational Therapy Law and/or in consultation with physicians or by prescription )
- Administer effective occupational therapy treatments through performance of physical/functional evaluation; modality use, soft tissue and joint mobilization, adjunctive treatment (i.e., traction, TENS, NMES, Iontophoresis), and therapeutic exercise; directing treatment given by aides, technicians, and assistants
- Design, fabricate, apply/fit, train in use, and adjust/modify custom orthotic devices with physician prescription; dispense prefabricated non-rigid supports as appropriate to physical diagnosis
- Perform injury prevention services including individual and work group education/consultation, ergonomic evaluation, work station design and process recommendations, transitional work assignment recommendations
- Complete discharge planning by consulting with client leadership as necessary, physicians, nurses, and other health care workers per contract requirements
- Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; performing follow-up visits as necessary
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records in a timely manner
- Maintain patient confidence and protects clinic operations by keeping information confidential
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
- Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through multiple pathways including, but not limited to, attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal professional networks; participating in professional societies
- Develop occupational therapy staff by providing constructive feedback; developing and conducting in-service training programs
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements; have awareness of existing and new legislation; anticipate future legislation; advise management on needed actions for compliance
You Must
- Be a State Licensed Registered Occupational Therapist
- Have a desire to set and meet challenging objectives and seek out process innovation
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Medcor clinic staff
- Have a positive and outgoing personality
- Be willing to go above and beyond to provide excellent customer service
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have strong computer skills with email and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and other technology skills (navigate cell phones, texting, fax machines, etc)
- Be comfortable working in a work-site clinic environment
- Have prompt and predictable attendance
It's a Plus If
- You have a 3-5 years experience in work / industrial rehabilitation
