The Outpatient Physical Therapy Specialist I will perform evaluations, determine diagnoses, develop a plan of care, perform procedures as allowed by referral to aid in restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain and preventing or limiting permanent physical disabilities. In addition to all the responsibilities of a staff therapist, the Outpatient Physical Therapy Clinical Specialist I will also treat a patient population specific to a physical therapy board certification recognized by the APTA (Orthopedic, Sports, Women's Health, Neurologic) and/or clinical specialization (Certified Hand Therapist, Pelvic Floor, Lymphedema) that bears necessary contact hour requirement/past clinical experience as determined by therapy leadership.

What you will do
- Performs evaluations, determines PT diagnoses, develops plan of care, and performs therapy procedures allowed by referral to aid in restoring function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities.
- Evaluates and assesses the patient timely, based on principles outlined by practice guidelines, evidence based guidelines and regulatory standards (state & organizational policies, requirements of accrediting bodies, etc.). Assesses and documents progress for evaluation, billing and reporting purposes.
- Actively builds and maintains physician relationships, educating internal therapy team (PTs and PTAs), provides in-services and markets specialty services to physician groups, RHS staff and the community at large.
- Assists and participates in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students.
- Follows and carries out the treatment plan. Modifies to maximize therapeutic benefit and meet discharge criteria and returns to optimal level of care. Utilizes testing results and develops updated plan of care based on principles outlined in appropriate evidence based guidelines.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors Degree, Physical Therapy (Required)
Experience
- 2 years Physical Therapist in Outpatient Specialty (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- License Physical Therapy (PT) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
- APTA Board Specialist Certification or Clinical Specialization (CHT, Pelvic Floor, Lymphedema) as approved by Therapy Leadership (Required)
