Primary Purpose:
Administer direct/indirect occupational therapy to students with mental, physical, or emotional disabilities under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist, so students may benefit from their special educational program.
Qualification Guidelines:
Education/Certifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program
Completed the certification examination for occupational therapy assistant and licensed by the State of Texas as an occupational therapist assistant
Experience:
Experience with pediatrics and/or school-based therapy preferred but not required
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of rehabilitation procedures, activities, and equipment used in occupational therapy
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervision of motor technician as delegated by supervising occupational therapist
