Job Summary
The Massage Therapist delivers therapeutic massage and bodywork services to promote healing, improve physical function, and support overall well-being. This role applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and massage techniques to address client-specific needs related to injury, stress, or medical conditions. The Massage Therapist ensures safe, client-centered care while adhering to infection control and professional standards.
Essential Functions
- Reviews client medical histories and conducts interviews to assess physical condition and determine appropriate massage therapy techniques.
- Evaluates muscle tone, joint function, range of motion, and soft tissue condition to customize treatment plans.
- Provides therapeutic massage sessions to support pain relief, injury recovery, stress reduction, and improved mobility.
- Advises clients on techniques for posture improvement, stretching, and home-based exercises to enhance treatment outcomes.
- Develops and communicates individualized treatment plans, including frequency and duration of sessions based on client needs.
- Applies appropriate infection prevention protocols and maintains cleanliness of therapy space and tools.
- Blends and applies massage oils, lotions, or topical treatments as appropriate for therapy.
- Maintains detailed, confidential documentation of treatments provided, client progress, and any concerns or contraindications.
- Identifies when referral to another healthcare provider is warranted and communicates appropriately.
- Responds to emergency situations within scope of training and facility protocol.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- 0-2 years of professional massage therapy experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to massage therapy.
- Proficiency in a variety of massage modalities (e.g., Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, sports therapy).
- Ability to assess client needs and modify techniques accordingly.
- Skilled in using massage tools and equipment safely.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and healthcare teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
- Professional demeanor with a focus on client safety, comfort, and therapeutic outcomes.
- Awareness of contraindications and safety precautions.
Licenses and Certifications
- CMST - Certified Massage Therapist current and valid state license required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support obtained within the first six (6) months of employment required
