Speech-Language Pathologist Full Time

Job Overview: Primary responsibilities include evaluation and treatment of patients with communication and swallowing disorders; documentation of results, recommendations and treatment plans; patient and family education; and interdisciplinary communication.

Majority of caseload would consist of inpatient adults with occasional outpatient adults. Primary functions would include conducting swallowing evaluations bedside or with MBS and providing follow-up treatments of dysphagia, aphasia, apraxia and dysarthria. There is opportunity for growth with pediatric inpatients and outpatient feeding therapy.

Qualifications:

Master s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

NJ License in Speech-Language Pathology

Certificate of Clinical Competency from ASHA

Preferred 2 years of experience with dysphagia

Preferred experience with MBS; will train strong candidate

Certification and Licenses Required:

NJ License in Speech-Language Pathology

ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence - will consider strong Clinical Fellow

Scheduling Requirements

Full Time days

Essential Functions:

  • Administers comprehension diagnostic evaluation
  • Identifies and assesses communication and/or swallowing disorders by evaluating etiology, case history and test results
  • Counsels patient/families regarding findings, treatment goals, progress and referrals
  • Interprets and offers findings to physicians and other appropriate medical staff and determines the need for additional referrals
  • Provides thorough plan of care and appropriate therapy
  • Provides clear, technically sound, accurate and comprehensive documentation to include findings, impressions, recommendation, progress and other patient-related concerns
  • Compiles accurate statistics, insurance forms and charges sheets as necessary
  • Promotes inter-disciplinary communication; provides in-service presentations as needed
  • Completes continuing education for licensure and professional growth
  • Carries out principles of positive guest relations
  • Provides peer review, supervises clinical fellows or student interns
  • Applies knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care
