Norman Regional Health System and Oceans Healthcare have partnered to expand access to behavioral health services in south central Oklahoma through construction of a new, state-of-the-art behavioral hospital. Opening Summer 2024.

Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village, a 48-bed facility, will more that double Norman Regional Health System's inpatient capacity for adult and senior behavioral health patients and add new services, including an intensive outpatient program and a dedicated geriatric behavioral health unit. The freestanding hospital will be located on the Norman Regional Porter campus and replace the existing 20-bed behavioral health unit.

The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), provides assessment, individualized intervention planning, treatment planning and group therapy to further patient/family/group progress in treatment according to Joint Commission, Federal and State Regulations, the Oceans' Mission, policies and procedures and Performance Improvement standards.

Essential Functions:
\n\n
\n\t
- Provides direct therapeutic recreation therapy services in accordance with accepted standards of therapeutic recreation practice in a timely fashion as outlined by Joint Commission, Federal and State Regulations, and the Hospital's Mission statement and CQI monitors.\n\t
- Plans and conducts individual and group therapy as assigned by physician's order.\n\t
- Completes all necessary paperwork/documents within 72 hours of admission. (Conducts, assesses and interprets completion of Comprehensive Integrated Assessment, reviews all multidisciplinary assessments and compiles a Multidisciplinary Treatment Integration under the supervision of the attending physician.\n\t
- Performs chart audits of the recreational activities provided to patients.\n\t
- Participates as an active member of the treatment team, attending meetings and reporting on assigned patients and progress toward treatment goals.\n\t
- Documents in a timely manner in the medical record the services rendered.\n\t
- Communicates in an age/disability/culturally sensitive related manner to patients and their families and identifies safety, psychosocial, special mobility and special equipment needs.\n\t
- Conducts treatments and discharge planning in accordance with age/disability/cultural needs, and involving members of the patient's support system in decision making as appropriate.\n\t
- Develops, plans and provides in-services for inter/intra - community/staff on a minimum of a bi-annual basis.\n\t
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.\n
