Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Manage and supervise the fieldwork of the MSOT students in accordance with the vision, strategic plan, and goals of the program and university.
-Maintain current knowledge of the standards of the ACOTE pertaining to fieldwork in the MSOT program.
-Ensure that fieldwork education in the MSOT program meets the following requirements and/or duties:
The fieldwork program reflects the sequence and scope of the content in the curriculum design in collaboration with faculty so that fieldwork experiences strengthen the ties between didactic and fieldwork education.
Agreements with fieldwork sites reflect themes of the curriculum design and realities of the healthcare environment affecting the program.
Fieldwork agreements are sufficient in scope and number to allow completion of graduation requirements in a timely manner in accordance with the policy adopted by the program as required by ACOTE.
Coordinate the fieldwork process by selecting and developing fieldwork sites, scheduling fieldwork experiences, overseeing administrative requirements (i.e. fieldwork contracts and student health records), submitting appropriate forms to ACOTE, and fostering positive relations with the local healthcare community.
Ensure that students participating in fieldwork maintain documentation of current immunizations and other healthcare information according to the University and Program policies and individual site requirements.
Establish and maintain relationships with the on-site fieldwork educators and provide training and support in order to enhance their student programs and develop fieldwork experiences that align with the fieldwork course learning objectives.
Provide consultation for students throughout the academic program regarding preparation for, selection and completion of fieldwork experiences.
Monitor quality of Level 1 and Level II fieldwork experiences and clinical instruction by fieldwork educators through fieldwork site visits and student evaluations of fieldwork experiences.
Support Level I and Level II fieldwork educators to ensure completion of their duties and responsibilities in mentoring, managing and evaluating students
Support the Program Director of the MSOT program with the development and implementation of policies for the withdrawal of students from fieldwork education placement when necessary.
Support the Program Director of the MSOT program in the preparation and submission of regular reports regarding fieldwork portion of the program to ACOTE, other regulatory agencies, and the Chief Executive Officer of the college, as required.
Support the Program Director of the MSOT program by teaching courses in areas of documented expertise, as required by the program and the university and in subordination to the primary responsibilities for management and supervision of the fieldwork portion of the MSOT program.
Maintain expertise through scholarship (e.g. scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning), as defined by ACOTE.
Teach courses in areas of documented expertise, as required by the program
Maintain expertise by participating in scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning) as defined by ACOTE
Participate in program evaluation
Attend departmental meetings, graduation ceremonies, and other college meetings or events, as required.
Foster an educational environment that is supportive of the Lasallian Mission.
Act as a Preceptor for Level I Fieldwork
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director of the MSOT program.
Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate (OTD, DrOT, EdD, PhD) from an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized regional accrediting body. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in the State of Illinois and have initial NBCOT certification. Have minimum of two years documented clinical experience as an occupational therapist with a demonstrated knowledge of current occupational therapy practice. Has a current and valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation; superior written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills needed for working with diverse stakeholders on an off campus. Applicant should be proficient with computer technology and possess strong organization skills.
