POSITION TITLE
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Occupational Therapy Assistant is directly supervised by the licensed Occupational Therapist and PSE Program Officer or designee. The Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible for providing occupational therapy services in an educational setting to eligible students under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, following a treatment plan developed by the Occupational Therapist to improve, develop, restore or maintain students' active participation in educational activities, and functioning as related service personnel under state and federal law and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides Occupational Therapy services delegated and supervised by a licensed Occupational Therapist. Services will be provided under close or general supervision depending on educational experience and service competency.
1. Implement all OCDEL requirements
2. Assist with data collection, assessment and evaluation
3. Travel to schools to provide direct and/or consultative services according to the student's IEP goals developed by the Occupational Therapist
4. Recommend treatment modifications to the Occupational Therapist based on the student's needs
5. Adapt environments, tools, materials and activities according to the student's needs
6. Collaborate with other team members, school personnel, and families regarding the student's occupational therapy related needs
7. Maintain equipment and supply inventory for students on their caseload
8. Maintain records and documentation as required
9. Support students through integrated therapy in an inclusive setting when the needed skill is naturally occurring within the typical routines of the day
10. Other responsibilities may include working under the direction of the teachers providing general classroom assistance by preparing and implementing activities, lunch, bathroom duties, recess and any other duties required as part of the classroom team so the children may fully participate in their educational environment.
11. Clerical tasks at the PSE office
12. Participating in professional development
13. Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the department's or school's goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant Associates Degree program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE REQUIRED
Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in Pennsylvania
Must be supervised by a licensed and registered Occupational Therapist who is responsible for evaluations, re-evaluations and changes in the program
Certification through National Board (NBCOT)
Must maintain 36 PDU's every 3 years
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Varies based on the needs of the supervisor
