Speech-Language Pathologist
Major Function

Valid Florida certification in field or hold appropriate Florida state license for the position

Major Function
This employee is responsible for organizing and implementing a therapy program to meet the needs of speech, language and hearing-impaired students and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in laws and policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and design educational and therapy plans annually for each student based on individually assessed needs in accordance with Pepin Academies procedures
- Work in coordination with other ESE teachers in planning and developing the exceptional student education program so that it is consistent with the total educational philosophy of Pepin Academies
- Obtain and maintain approval as a Medicaid provider
- If not currently approved, collaborate with our team to complete the necessary steps to obtain Medicaid provider credentials.
- Submit all required documentation for reimbursement of eligible students through the designated school-approved reimbursement platform.
- Participate in the in-school staffing and screening processes as appropriate, including all students referred by the in-school staffing committee for speech language and/or hearing screening tests
- Participate on evaluation teams for speech, language, and hearing-impaired students as appropriate
- Provide diagnostic/evaluation testing for students failing speech and/or language screenings
- Confer with the classroom teacher as requested concerning any educational needs of the student
- Make available to teachers, instructional ideas that are appropriate for exceptional students within the classroom situation
- Ensure that each student in the program has necessary evaluation records in his/her permanent record
- Attend Individualized Education Plan meetings and supply planning notes/progress reports to school personnel and to parents of exceptional students as necessary and requested
- Provide direct supervision of roles and responsibilities for speech language pathology assistant(s)
- Compensated with stipend, when applicable
- Adheres to the Standards and requirements necessary for licensure
- If applicable, use classroom strategies proven to be effective in the Teacher Evaluation Framework
