Responsible for teaching the range of Physical Therapist Assistant courses offered by the College.Essential Job Functions:

  • In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare or revise guides for courses offered in their division and submit to the Program Director/Division Chair or appropriate Administrator for review.
  • Teach classes assigned by the Division Chair and approved by the Vice President of Academic Services following course outlines approved by the College.
  • In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare textbook recommendations and submit to the Program Director/Division Chair for review.
  • Prepare for the annual budget requests for instructional equipment and materials including maps books audio-visual aids and other supplies and submit these requests to the Program Director/Division Chair for recommendation.
  • Report attendance and grades as prescribed by the Director of Admission Services.
  • Attend division meetings called by the Division Chair and faculty meetings called by the Program Director.
  • Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
  • Cooperate in the promotion of extra curricular activities by accepting reasonable assignments and encouraging student participation.
  • Serve on such committees for the betterment of the College as may be established by the administration and faculty.
  • Consider the general and special needs of the student. Assist students in meeting needs or solving problems when necessary seek additional help from other college services.
  • Observe, support and enforce the regulations, policies and programs of the College and inform the President in writing of any problem that might have a detrimental effect on the College.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Notify the Program Director/Division Chair well in advance of absences.
  • Advise students assigned by student services, and assist in registration as needed.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the teaching/learning process.
  • Focus upon student recruitment retention and success.
  • Use a variety of methods and teaching strategies that reflect the different learning styles and needs of students.
  • Show an understanding of the community college philosophy including its unique ties to the workforce and its district.
  • Work as a member of a team.
  • Participate in development activities and maintain current evidence base practice.
  • Engage in activities aimed at promoting the Physical Therapist Assistant Program Allied Health Division and Lake Land College to potential and current students.
  • Engage in activities related to course content and curriculum model, including learning outcomes assessments.
  • Develop assess and maintain data for course and program assessment.
  • Assist with accreditation reporting.
  • Advisor and manage of the PTA club.
  • Member of the APTA/IPTA.
  • Serve as the Academic Clinical Coordinator of Education (ACCE) Responsible for the following: a.Placement of students on all clinical rotations b. Communication with all clinical sites. c.Clinical site visits at a minimum of one time per clinical practicum. d.Proactively seeking new clinical sites. e. Data retrieval of clinical survey. f. Maintaining of all contracts.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science and a current Illinois PTA. Master's degree preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in physical therapist assistance programs and qualified as a clinical instructor. Must have a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience - CAPTE

Knowledge:

  • Curriculum development, community college philosophy and population.

Skills:

  • Must be knowledgeable in the following areas: physical therapy skills, geriatrics, orthopedics, neurology, modalities, therapeutic exercises, goniometry, manual muscle testing, manual therapy, documentation, pathology, and diseases. Must be knowledgeable of the rules and regulations governing physical therapy.
