QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

  • WA State ESA School Audiologist certification (or eligible to obtain). Knowledge of principles, techniques and methods of audiology in the educational environment
  • Master's degree in Audiology
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, school staff, parents, and school district personnel. Ability to use technology effectively
  • Knowledge of the unique educational needs of deaf and hard of hearing students including knowledge
  • Ability to maintain written records and progress notes
  • Must have an operating knowledge of a variety of audiometric instruments and related materials
  • Experience working with students including implementing IEPs, collaborating with an educational team, maintaining records, and preparing reports and correspondence
  • Ability to use professional judgment and carry out all assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision while maintaining confidentiality
  • Must be able to pass state and federal criminal background screenings

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Diagnostic Objective Testing:
  • Functional Listening Evaluations
  • Conduct Screenings
  • Hearing Aid Fitting, Programming and Troubleshooting?
  • Cochlear Implant Programming, Mapping and Troubleshooting
  • FM/DM Recommendations, Set-Up and Troubleshooting
  • Coordination of Care between outside Medical Professionals and District Staff
  • IEP or 504 Team Support
  • Audiological Counseling for Students and Families :regarding hearing loss, communication access, and use of technology
  • Assists with designing programs and services for students with cochlear implants
  • Serves as the resource person to staff, district personnel, and parents in relation to audiology
  • Provides in-class support to teachers as needed
  • Involvement for record review
  • Attends evaluation meetings for districts
  • Provides troubleshooting and support
  • Conducts and assists with training
  • Manage audiologic equipment and calibration
  • Report Writing
  • Supervise/manage district audiology program (budget developing, program planning)
  • Supervise audiology assistants or support staff
