Job Summary:
MECA Therapies is seeking a passionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our growing team. As a COTA at MECA Therapies, you will play a vital role in providing occupational therapy services to children with developmental delays and/or diagnosed conditions, working under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). You will implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct occupational therapy services to children (birth to 21 years) in various settings, including homes, community locations, and our outpatient clinic.Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.Assist children in developing, recovering, and improving the skills needed for daily living and participation in activities.Monitor and document patient progress accurately and provide feedback to the supervising Occupational Therapist.Select appropriate therapeutic activities and modalities based on the child's age, abilities, and treatment plan.Provide clear and concise instructions to children and families regarding therapy techniques and home programs.Collaborate effectively with OTs, other therapists, and family members to coordinate care and achieve patient goals.Maintain accurate and timely documentation in our electronic health record system (MAPS).Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as MECA Therapies' policies and procedures.Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment.Supervise student interns and/or observers as needed, according to MECA OT supervision guidelines.
Qualifications:
Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.Current and valid COTA license from the New Mexico Board of Occupational Therapy.Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, practices, and techniques.Experience working with children with developmental delays and/or disabilities preferred.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health record systems.Ability to manage a caseload efficiently and meet productivity standards.Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
