The Sports Performance Coach - Physical Therapy Assistant will work with the sports performance team in the care and prevention of athletic injuries while also assisting the Physical Therapists by providing therapeutic healthcare services to patients and athletes. This position will work closely with physical therapy, sports scientist, and strength and conditioning in the development and management of athletic rehabilitation and sports performance.
This is a full-time role, must be flexible to meet clinic needs out of our Waconia location.
Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with Training Haus professionals regarding sports performance as it relates to ACE strength and ACE Sport (Return to Play program).
- Remain active in community projects and outreach in TCO's current contracted relationships as well as new relationships
- Potential to participate in teaching group fitness for both the athletic and non-athletic population when called upon
- Provides treatment to patients as directed by the Physical Therapist
- Documenting treatments in EMR in conjunction with physical therapist
- Prepare detailed and comprehensive daily notes that support treatment charges
- Notify supervising Physical Therapist of any patient status change or poor tolerance to treatment
- Use and set-up modalities including Ultrasound, Traction, E-stim, Iontophoresis, and MedX
- Highly effective communicator, working in collaboration with physical therapists and sports performance coaches in the development and execution of rehabilitation and performance plans
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and staff within the organization in a professional manner
- Collaborate with Director of Therapy, Sports Performance Manager, Sports Medicine Coordinator, Therapy Managers, other internal and externals Personal Trainers/Strength Coaches, and Marketing to develop and implement solutions to sports performance needs
- Provide education on a regular basis to physicians, physical therapists, and strength coaches throughout the organization to demonstrate the use and importance of athletic training in the aid of sports performance and return to play decisions
- Remain active in community projects and outreach in TCO's current contracted relationships as well as development of new relationships
- Manage payments, attendance, and accountability reports for programs
- Ability to work within set budgets for equipment/supply purchasing
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high energy sports performance clinic
- Foster community relationships relating to sports performance in the community with partners who share in TCO's core values
- Participate in strategy development and implementation of sports performance program growth
- Participate in continuing education routinely in order to maintain state licensure while practicing within the scope of MN State rules/regulations
- Promote TCO sponsored sports performance events in the community at health fairs and events
- Occasionally participate in community functions relating to TCO outreach events throughout the year.
- Maintain safe work environment for self, staff, and patients
- Any and all other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or similar degree
- PTA License obtained by an accredited PTA program
- Currently licensed as Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of MN or state in which practicing
- CSCS certification or equivalent required
- Outpatient Orthopedic and experience with return to sport/athletic activity preferred
- Experience working within physical therapy setting, executing exercises under the direction of a PT
- Experience working within a strength and conditioning setting and the ability to write and instruct programming/classes related to return to sport within strength and conditioning
- CSCS or similar performance background in a highly active sports medicine clinic. Must be able to work in spine rehab progressions, understand weightlifting principles, and be able to work independently while under a large group of board-certified providers plan of care. Any experience in the training room of a high school or collegiate setting is beneficial.

- Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner
- Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations

- Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Travel to other work locations, if required
